A single mother leaves Rome and takes her twelve year old daughter (Eleanora Brown) into the Italian countryside once World-War-II bombings become too frequent in the city. The rural area offers war-related complications of its own, however; will a brutal rape of our heroines prove too traumatic to overcome? An exceptional film directed by Vittoria De Sica which is based on Alberto Moravia's novel. Recommended!
