Following World War II, Mendel (Thomas Jorgen Sorensen), a Jewish boy of about nine years of age, his older brother (Martin Meingast) and parents relocate to Norway. Our little hero struggles to adjust to his new environment, especially has trouble grasping things such as fish-balls, cod liver oil and Christianity. And, to complicate matters further, the lad is too young to recall the Holocaust and finds those around him who well recall the atrocity unwilling to explain. Might Mendel's confusion be resolved by the time the ending credits role? A definite crowd-pleaser!
