Ingemar (Anton Glanzelius), approximately eleven, is well acquainted with trouble, just can't keep out of it, a fact which eventually proves to be too much for his terminally ill mom. So, the tyke is shipped off to a small Swedish village to spend some time with his uncle, there meets a number of interesting characters as well as finds romance with a tom-boyish female peer (Melinda Kinnaman). Shortly thereafter, Ingemar's mother dies and the rest of the world offers little better. Will he prove capable of overcoming the psychological shock of his recent tragedies, or did life simply dish out too many blows too quickly? A sweet and sad tale that was latter made into a cable television mini-series; this is the better of the two. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom. A not-to-be-missed flick!
