An elderly Jewish ex-prostitute who has made a profession out of caring for the children of "whores" finds herself depending more and more on the eldest of her urchins, a fourteen year old Arab named Momo (Samy Ben Youb), as her body starts rapidly deteriorating. Momo uses his knowledge of the streets to care for his "adoptive mother" and the other kids, is content with this, but he wishes to know more of his history, who his parents were/are. Is the secret of his past ever to be revealed? And will Momo do as Madame Rosa requests: perform an act of euthanasia before she is placed in a hospital, has her suffering prolonged? A touching story that well displays the love and respect two people from distant generations can share for one another. Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. Highly recommended!
