Two brothers, Harry (Leo Wheatley) and Davy (Charles Miller), eight and approximately five years of age, are sent to live with their grandparents in Nova Scotia following the death of their parents. Grandpa is a bit strict, quick to send Harry to the woodshed; he also dislikes a number of his neighbors since they are of "Boerish" heritage, his son having been killed in the Boer War. Desiring acceptance, the boys come to agree with their grandfather's views on life. Yet, Harry one day finds an infant on the beach near his home, decides to raise it on his own in his "fort"; when the baby is finally discovered by the adults searching for him, the tyke is accused of kidnapping, which forces grandpa into revaluating his prejudices. A very pleasant family film that was previously made in 1953; based on the short story "Scotch Settlement," written by Neil Paterson.

Warning (rated G): minor adult themes; minor violence.

1990; 94 minutes; Note: there are a couple of very brief tracking problems; Leo Wheatley, Charles Miller, Amos Crawley, Charlton Heston, Bruce Greenwood, Patricia Gage, Dan MacDonald, Leah Pinsent.
