A man dying from cancer decides to return to his childhood home in the Australian outback so that he might conclude his life there. Shortly after he sets off on his long hike, he witnesses a serious accident that leaves a ten year old boy named Shawn (Ricky Schroder) orphaned. Lacking time, the man does not want his journey interrupted, decides against taking the lad back to a nearby town..., yet he reluctantly permits him to tag along. Can Shawn overcome his trauma, learn enough about how to live off the land and make his way back to civilization before the cancer runs its course? Comparable to Walkabout, but geared towards a younger audience; entertaining enough for adults, though.
