In 1832, a family of children find their parents dead and the locals offering little support. But the eldest, Cissie (Tracy Whitwell), roughly sixteen, is determined to keep her siblings together, makes a home for them in a nearby cave. As the older children work to earn some money for food, Cissie tends to the littlest (Andrew McWilliams), roughly eight, and makes their habitat quiet nice. Yet, trouble starts when a young aristocrat rapes the girl, leaves her pregnant. And, following the birth of her son, the boy's paternal grandfather decides he wants the child for himself, utilizes his power and influence to take him from his mother. A couple years later, the young aristocrat returns from sea a changed man, wishes to set things right. Can he do so in spite of Cissie's distrust and hatred of him, his father's zealous desire to keep his grandson? A pleasantly done "soaper" style movie originally made for British television and filmed on location in Northumberland.
