On the 100th anniversary of Lewis Carroll's birth, the elderly woman who as a child inspired the Reverend Dodgson (Carroll's real name) to write Alice in Wonderland travels to New York to engage in the festivities. Not fully grasping the popularity of this tale in the U.S.A., Alice becomes a bit flustered by her fame and is, in turn, forced to look back into her childhood. With a splendid mixture of fantasy and drama told in flashback, the nature of the renowned author's "love" for this ten year old girl (Amelia Shankley) comes into question. Jim Henson provides the fantastic special effects for the Alice in Wonderland characters. A very beautiful piece which manages to be "subtly daring." Recommended!

Warning (rated PG): mild sexual themes.
