Touching true story about a social worker and the orphans she works with: Don (Sean Barrett), an older teen who is ready to move out of the orphanage and develop a relationship with the mother who abandoned him eight years before; Georgie (Colin Petersen), a musically talent lad of about eight who fantasizes his alcoholic mother is soon to retrieve him; Barbie (Dana Wilson), a girl of roughly six who zealously guards and cares for her two younger brothers since mom is nowhere to be found and dad has been executed. Perhaps a little melodramatic at times, as well as predictable, but altogether a fine film that is both adorable and sad.
Warning (rated NR): adult themes.
