Before director Shinya Tsukamoto was thrust into international fame with his graphic Tetsuo, he made this peculiar flick about a boy (Nariaki Senba), roughly fifteen, with a "magical" rod growing out of his back who is thrust 25 years into the future and there finds himself battling a group of evil vampires who have come to dominate the world and feed off human blood. Most should probably stay away from this one, for it is often hard to follow (Note: the poor print quality makes it even more of a struggle). However, if you are a fan of Tetsuo, this is an interesting endeavor which shows the start of Shinya's reoccurring themes (e.g., people turning into machines) and unique camera style. Shot around 1989 but not released until 1995, new footage added for this print, which is here what you get to see. Trailers for a number of other Tsukamoto films follow.

Warning (rated NR): frequent violence; adult themes; sexual themes; brief nudity.

1989 (?); in Japanese with English subtitles; 60 minutes; Note: this is not the best print; it often has a fogged appearance as well as speckling and speckling related problems; anticipate some tracking trouble too; Nariaki Senba, Nobu Kanaoka, Kei Fujiwara, Tomorch Taguchi, Shinya Tsukamoto.
